‘Come Join Us’ – Review Politiken 11.23.95
“When the music leaves a positive impression, then it may also be that the CD conveys the proximity that gives the term ‘chamber music’ eligibility, in a much more urgently manner. A nice CD that lets us meet two of the country’s finest jazz musicians in warm, rhythmic interaction – and in an excellent recording by Danmarks Radio.”

Uffe Steen/Jens Jefsen Duo
Stringtime

(Intermusic INTCD 057) 1997

Jens Jefsen: bass
Uffe Steen: guitar
Recorded at AirPlay, Montanagade Århus 1997

String Time (review by Kaare Gade).
“While younger talents often choose to change their residence in Aarhus out with a more central address in Copenhagen, the guitarist Uffe Steen and Jens Jefsen stubbornly remaines in the town (Aarhus). For the same reason, they have gradually assumed the character of local institution. The presence as a part of the culture in Aarhus has become so of course that you can easily become deaf to the indisputable format which often surprises other musician guests. For the same reason, it can be difficult to listen objectively to the latest release from the two musicians. But one can at least make it clear: Old fans will hardly be disappointed. 11 great-produced titles, mostly composed by the duo themselves, leads the listener through a stylistically diverse repertoire, however, constantly remain unmistakably Steen and Jefsen. Duo all the way, but no more puritanical than they often used overdubs. The interaction is characterized by playful effortlessness and profits of forces that gives a pleasant laid-back atmosphere. Impressive, not least because Uffe Steen with his technique plays both Cooder, Satriani and Martino off the field.”
